Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Oncology – Gastrointestinal

About the role

The University of Miami seeks a full‑time Assistant Professor of Clinical Medical Oncology with a focus on gastrointestinal malignancies. The role combines patient care, research, and academic duties within the Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology, and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Key responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient attending services for patients with gastrointestinal and other solid tumors.
• Hold regular clinic sessions at Sylvester’s main campus or affiliated practice sites.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic activities, and teaching across UM schools.
• Develop and lead clinical and translational research projects, including clinical trials for gastrointestinal cancers.
• Write and submit scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and grant proposals.

Required profile

• Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and/or Oncology.
• Eligibility for a Florida medical license.
• Demonstrated excellence in patient care, peer‑reviewed publications, and potential to serve as principal investigator on clinical trials.
• National recognition or experience in clinical trial development and personalized medicine.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in medical oncology, especially gastrointestinal cancers.
• Experience designing and conducting investigator‑initiated clinical trials.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary research teams.
