Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology. This faculty position combines clinical practice, teaching, and participation in departmental academic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services for a broad case mix including orthopedics, gynecology, community obstetrics, abdominal, general vascular, and kidney transplant surgeries.
• Supervise residents, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs) during clinical rotations.
• Perform cases independently when required and respond to on‑call duties (3‑4 overnight calls per month, with occasional evening or weekend calls).
• Participate in teaching, mentoring trainees, departmental conferences, and faculty meetings.

Required profile

• Completion of a US‑approved residency in Anesthesiology or equivalent training.
• Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology (equivalence may be considered case‑by‑case).
• Comfort with generalist anesthesia cases; cardiac cases and patients under 2 years of age are not required.
• Ability to supervise trainees and work autonomously.
• Willingness to engage in academic activities and departmental service.
