Assistant Professor of Clinical – Anesthesiology

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical – Anesthesiology with a focus on Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise a full spectrum of peripheral and neuraxial nerve block techniques.
• Manage acute pain and acute‑on‑chronic pain patients in an inpatient setting.
• Supervise residents and fellows, providing teaching and mentorship.
• Participate in departmental conferences, faculty meetings, and academic activities.
• Fulfill call duties one week per month, including weekend inpatient rounding and occasional nerve block procedures.

Required profile

• US‑approved residency in Anesthesiology with board eligibility or certification.
• Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management, or substantial equivalent experience.
• Ability to work independently and perform procedures as needed.
• Research experience is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Required skills

• Peripheral nerve block techniques (cervical plexus, interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary, elbow, wrist, femoral, adductor canal, fascia iliaca, sub‑gluteal sciatic, lateral popliteal sciatic, IPACK, TAP, rectus sheath, PEC1, PEC2, ESP, stellate ganglion).
• Neuraxial block techniques.
• Catheter placement for continuous analgesia.
• Acute pain management in inpatient settings.
