Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology (General)

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology (General). This full‑time faculty position offers the opportunity to practice a broad range of anesthetic cases while contributing to education and research.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for orthopaedic, GYN, community OB, abdominal, general vascular, and kidney transplant surgeries.
• Supervise residents, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists (SRNAs).
• Teach and mentor trainees, and participate in departmental conferences and faculty meetings.
• Perform independent cases when required.
• Fulfill on‑call duties (3‑4 overnight calls per month, with occasional evening and weekend coverage).

Required profile

• Completion of a US‑approved anesthesiology residency or equivalent training.
• Board eligibility or certification in anesthesiology (equivalence considered case‑by‑case).
• Comfort with the listed case mix; cardiac cases and patients under 2 years are not required.
• Interest in research is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Regional anesthesia techniques (limited skills acceptable).
• Ability to anesthetize older children.
• Effective supervision of trainees.
