About the role

The Carleton Psychology Department invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor of Biological Psychology, focusing on the neural basis of complex human behavior and mental states. The appointment begins on September 1, 2027 and involves teaching, research, and service within a liberal‑arts environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach five courses per year across Carleton’s trimester system, including introductory psychology, statistical methods, mid‑level biological psychology, research laboratory classes, and upper‑level seminars.
• Develop and lead a campus‑based undergraduate research program investigating brain processes linked to cognition, affect, and behavior.
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program and collaborate with department faculty.
• Mentor undergraduate students in research design, data collection, and analysis.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in psychology (or completed by September 2027) with a focus on biological or physiological psychology.
• Demonstrated commitment to high‑quality undergraduate teaching and inclusive pedagogy.
• Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds and encourage participation in neuroscience research.
