About the role

The Department of English at Louisiana State University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in British literature and culture of the Long 18th Century (1660‑1830), beginning August 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses English 3020 and English 3022 and develop new courses on 18th‑Century British literature and culture.
• Serve on graduate dissertation committees and supervise undergraduate and graduate research.
• Maintain an active scholarly profile consistent with Research‑1 university expectations, including publishing and pursuing external funding.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in British literature and culture of the Long 18th Century (1660‑1830) by August 2027.
• Demonstrated record of publication or strong promise of future scholarly achievement.
• Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses and to direct research across the entire period.
