About the role

The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami invites applications for a full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in Medical Oncology. The role combines independent research with collaborative projects aimed at translating laboratory discoveries into patient‑focused therapies, with a strong emphasis on pediatric cancer and precision medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Design, conduct, and manage scientific research within the Translational and Clinical Oncology Program.
• Oversee daily laboratory operations, including budgeting, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance.
• Supervise, mentor, and train postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
• Develop internal and external research collaborations across departments and institutions.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
• Prepare and submit manuscripts, abstracts, and grant proposals.
• Present research findings at conferences and internal seminars.
• Participate in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Junior Development Program.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in research with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Potential to develop and lead investigator‑initiated clinical trials.
• Interest in dedicating >50% of effort to pediatric oncology research.
• Commitment to precision medicine and pathology approaches.
