Assistant Professor / Lecturer in Gaming & Software Engineering

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering Technology is seeking candidates for a nine‑month appointment as an Assistant Professor (tenure‑track) or Lecturer in Gaming and Software Engineering. The role involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research, and contributing to the department’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Game Design and Development and related Computer Science topics using face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online formats.
• Maintain an active research agenda in game design, development, or closely related fields and seek external funding.
• Provide service to the department, school, university, and professional community.
• For Lecturers, deliver a higher teaching load (3‑4 courses per semester) with a focus on teaching excellence and student support.
• Participate in curriculum development, recruitment, outreach, and retention initiatives.

Required profile

• Assistant Professor: Ph.D. (or ABD) in Computer Science, Game Design, Software Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Lecturer: Substantial professional experience in game development and design, and an M.S. degree in a relevant field.
