Assistant Professor – Forest Ecology & Modeling

About the role

Texas A&M AgriLife Research seeks an innovative Assistant Professor in Forest Ecology and Modeling. This 12‑month, non‑tenure‑track faculty position is based at the Blackland Research and Extension Center in Temple, Texas, with academic affiliation to the Department of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M University.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an externally funded research program focused on forest sustainability, health, productivity, and marketability.
• Conduct interdisciplinary research on forested landscapes in Texas and beyond, integrating ecological theory and quantitative modeling.
• Collaborate with faculty across Texas A&M AgriLife Research, Extension, and the Texas A&M Forest Service.
• Publish findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
• Mentor graduate students and contribute to departmental teaching activities as needed.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Forest Ecology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to secure external research funding.
• Strong record of scholarly publications.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary, collaborative research environments.
