Assistant Professor – Biomechanics (Tenure‑Track)

About the role
The Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland, College Park seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor specializing in biomechanics. The successful candidate will develop an independent, extramurally funded research program focused on the mechanical, neuromuscular, or computational mechanisms of human movement across the lifespan.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and sustain a high‑quality research agenda that attracts external funding.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in biomechanics and related subjects.
- Mentor and advise graduate students, including supervising theses and dissertations.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service, such as examination committees.
- Collaborate with existing faculty to complement and expand the department’s research portfolio.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in biomechanics, kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or a closely related field.
- Strong potential for research excellence in human movement science.
- Demonstrated ability to secure extramural funding (or clear plan to do so).
- Commitment to high‑quality teaching and student mentorship.
Required skills
- Expertise in biomechanics research methods (experimental, computational, or sensor‑based).
