Assistant Pre‑School/Pre‑K Teacher

About the role

The Goddard School of Hastings-on-Hudson is seeking a caring and enthusiastic Assistant Pre‑School/Pre‑K Teacher to support our Lead Teacher in delivering a play‑based, inquiry‑driven curriculum. This role helps create a nurturing environment where young children can explore, discover, and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and delivering age‑appropriate lessons and activities.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom atmosphere.
• Supervise children, fostering their social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
• Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administrators.
• Ensure all practices comply with Goddard School standards and New York State licensing regulations.

Required profile

• Previous experience working with young children in a childcare setting (preferred).
• High School Diploma/GED; CDA or coursework toward a degree in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
• Strong communication, collaboration, multitasking, and organizational abilities.
• Genuine passion for supporting children’s development.
