Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction

About the role

Texas A&M University‑Victoria seeks up to six full‑time, tenure‑track faculty members to join the Department of Teacher Education. The positions start in January 2027 and are based on the Victoria campus.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction, both on‑site and online, with a typical 4‑course load each semester.
• Develop and support methods courses for candidates pursuing EC‑6, 4‑8, and secondary certification.
• Collaborate with faculty to strengthen candidates’ content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and evidence‑based instructional practices.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with tenure‑track expectations and provide service to the department, college, and university.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the specified specialization completed by December 2026 (ABD candidates considered).
• Minimum three years of PK‑12 classroom teaching experience in the relevant content area.
• Evidence of strong higher‑education teaching, preferably in both traditional and online environments.
• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), Texas Education Agency standards, and Texas educator certification requirements.
• Experience with curriculum development, assessment, and data‑informed instruction, as well as working with preservice or practicing teachers.
