Assistant or Associate Professor of Curriculum and Instruction

About the role

Texas A&M University‑Victoria seeks up to six full‑time, tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professors in Curriculum and Instruction, with an anticipated start date of January 2027. Positions are based on the Victoria campus and involve teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Curriculum and Instruction, both in‑person and online, with a typical 4‑course load each semester.
• Support methods courses for candidates pursuing EC‑6, 4‑8, and secondary certification.
• Collaborate with faculty to strengthen content knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and evidence‑based instructional practices.
• Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with tenure‑track expectations.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service.

Required profile

• Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field, with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the identified specialization completed by December 2026 (ABD candidates considered).
• Minimum three years of PK‑12 classroom teaching experience in the relevant content area.
• Evidence of strong higher‑education teaching ability.
• Understanding of effective pedagogy across grade levels and educator preparation standards.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Texas educator certification standards.
• Experience with content‑area curriculum development, assessment, and data‑informed instruction.
• Experience working with preservice or practicing teachers and supporting certification examinations.
