Assistant Jumping Seat Coach – Division I Equestrian

About the role

The Assistant Jumping Seat Coach supports the Head Equestrian Coach in running a Division I equestrian program at California State University, Fresno. The role focuses on student‑athlete welfare, academic success, and competitive development of the team.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily administration of the Division I equestrian program, including budgeting, scheduling practices and competitions.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference and university regulations.
• Develop and enforce team rules and expectations.
• Recruit high‑quality student‑athletes committed to graduation.
• Monitor academic progress and eligibility of team members.
• Promote the philosophy, policies and procedures of the Department of Athletics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of one year coaching experience at the collegiate level or at USEF/USHJA A‑rated horse shows.
• Thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and a history of compliance.
• Ability to foster positive relationships with student‑athletes, staff and community groups.

Required skills

• Understanding of NCAA regulations.
• Budget administration and event scheduling.
• Recruiting and evaluating prospective student‑athletes.
