About the role
The Texas A&M University System Offices are seeking an Assistant General Counsel I to provide legal advice on governance and compliance matters, including environmental and research compliance. This position supports administrators, faculty, and staff across the system.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in and respond to internal and government investigations related to environmental and research compliance.
- Draft requests for Attorney General Opinions, open records decisions, and related amicus briefs; review and redact records as required.
- Represent system members in administrative proceedings involving compliance issues not handled by the Texas Attorney General.
- Develop and deliver training on governance and compliance topics.
- Interpret emerging federal and state legal and regulatory issues; assist in drafting system policies, regulations, and guidance.
- Prepare responses to proposed legislation and advise on enacted laws.
- Research and produce internal legal memoranda and opinions.
Required profile
- B.A./B.S. plus an earned LLB or J.D. from an accredited law school.
- At least one year of relevant legal experience.
