About the role
The Assistant Director of Residential Education provides senior oversight for a residential community of roughly 2,000 students at Georgetown University. Working closely with Community Directors and Resident Assistants, the role advances student formation, community development, and the mission of Residential Living.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise full‑time Community Directors and indirectly oversee Resident Assistants.
- Lead educational and community‑building initiatives within the assigned residential area.
- Set goals, partner with staff and stakeholders, and promote student formation.
- Administer the Code of Student Conduct and support Safety Net functions.
- Address concerns from students, families, and support services through proactive problem solving.
- Lead university‑wide initiatives such as Student Staff Selection committees.
- Maintain a live‑on residence to model community engagement.
Required profile
- Completed Master’s degree, preferably in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or Social Work.
- 3–5 years of full‑time professional experience in residential living or student affairs.
- Strong understanding of residential education, student character development, and Jesuit values.
- Demonstrated leadership, supervision, professional development, and emergency‑response experience.
- Ability to manage stress, conflict, and frustration constructively with a positive attitude.
