Assistant Director of Financial Aid Compliance

About the role

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid Compliance supports the Director of Student Financial Aid by ensuring that all federal, state, and institutional regulations are consistently applied. This position develops policies, provides staff training, and oversees audit and reporting activities for the Office of Student Financial Aid.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver training on evolving federal and institutional regulations.
• Review and update university policies to maintain compliance with Title IV and Maryland Higher Education Commission rules.
• Recommend policy changes and maintain the policy manual.
• Guide the creation of federally compliant consumer information materials.
• Collect and respond to auditor data requests, supporting the Director as needed.
• Develop internal quality‑control processes to monitor accuracy and timeliness of financial‑aid processing.
• Process R2T4 withdrawals for both official and unofficial student withdrawals.
• Maintain expert knowledge of Title IV, state, and institutional financial‑aid regulations.
• Support mandatory reporting such as IPEDS, FISAP, and GE/FVT.

Required profile

• In‑depth knowledge of Federal Title IV, Maryland Higher Education Commission, and institutional financial‑aid policies.
• Experience developing and delivering compliance training.
• Proven ability to coordinate audit responses and manage data‑request processes.
• Familiarity with the PeopleSoft student information system.
• Strong analytical skills for quality‑control and reporting functions.
