Assistant Controller

About the role

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in overseeing the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position ensures the accuracy of financial records, compliance with accounting standards, and contributes to continuous process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in daily accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and fixed‑asset entries.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and tax filing coordination.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and meet regulatory reporting requirements.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits and respond to auditor inquiries.
• Develop and monitor internal controls to protect company assets.
• Analyze financial data to deliver insights for strategic decision‑making.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff as needed.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
• CPA designation or CPA candidacy strongly preferred.
• 3–7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public or corporate accounting.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or comparable ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and data analysis.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and related regulatory requirements.
