Assistant Controller – Accounting Operations

About the role

The Assistant Controller will support accounting operations for a client in Houston, Texas, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This position plays a key part in the monthly close process, maintains general ledger integrity, and assists with audit readiness and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end close activities, meeting deadlines and ensuring complete, accurate financial records.
• Review and maintain general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports for leadership, highlighting trends and variances.
• Support external and internal audits by organizing documentation and addressing inquiries.
• Assist in maintaining DCAA compliance and other applicable financial standards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve accounting workflows and reporting consistency.
• Utilize CMiC and Sage 300 to manage accounting data and generate reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing month‑end close in a corporate accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing audit‑ready documentation.
• Familiarity with DCAA requirements and regulated‑environment accounting.
