Assistant Clinical Professor – Research Faculty (FIRE)

About the role

The Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President, together with the Office of Undergraduate Research, seeks a full‑time Assistant Clinical Professor to lead a newly created FIRE research stream at the University of Maryland, College Park. This 12‑month appointment offers the chance to shape research‑focused curricula and mentor undergraduate scholars.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the research agenda for an assigned FIRE stream, collaborating with department faculty.
• Develop and teach research‑centered courses that emphasize iterative inquiry and resilience.
• Provide comprehensive mentorship—academic, personal, and professional—to participating students.
• Lead undergraduate peer mentors, overseeing communication and management.
• Create curriculum, protocols, and assessment tools for research‑based inquiry.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage undergraduate peer mentors.
• Experience developing curriculum and research protocols.
• Proven teaching effectiveness in lecture and research environments.
• Capacity to mentor students across academic and personal dimensions.
• Ability to assess student learning outcomes.
