Assistant Clinical Professor – Landscape Architecture

About the role
The Department of Plant Science and Landscape Architecture at the University of Maryland seeks a full‑time, 9‑month Assistant Clinical Professor to teach in both the Bachelor and Master of Landscape Architecture programs. The position offers a professional‑track appointment with promotion opportunities based on performance.
Key responsibilities
- Teach at least 16 credit hours per year, typically two studio courses and two lecture/seminar courses.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service and governance activities.
- Serve on MLA thesis committees and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Engage with the national and local chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA).
Required profile
- Accredited professional degree in landscape architecture or an international equivalent; terminal degree (MLA) or related field preferred.
- Active professional license in landscape architecture (preferred).
- Five or more years of professional practice as a landscape architect.
- Outstanding portfolio of professional work and documented teaching experience at the university level.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more areas such as ecological design, habitat restoration, green/blue infrastructure, digital representation, or emerging technologies.
