Assistant Baseball Coach

About the role

The Assistant Baseball Coach supports the head coach in managing Saint Louis University's NCAA Division I baseball program. This full‑time, on‑site position involves coaching, recruiting, travel coordination, and oversight of student managers while fostering athlete development both on and off the field.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and running team practices, teaching offensive and defensive concepts, and overseeing drills.
• Provide group and one‑on‑one instruction to support player development and monitor academic progress.
• Conduct recruiting activities, including contacting high‑school athletes, scouting games, reviewing film, and reporting assessments to the head coach.
• Arrange travel logistics for away games, including transportation schedules, hotel reservations, and communication with host institutions.
• Supervise student managers to ensure duties are completed.
• Support the conditioning and weight‑training program, tracking athlete progress and adherence.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum two years of playing or coaching experience at the high‑school, collegiate, or professional level.
• Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of baseball strategies and concepts.
• Familiarity with physical conditioning techniques and weight training.
• Basic statistical knowledge for performance analysis.
• Recruiting and talent evaluation abilities.
