ART Accountant, Automotive Refinish Technology

About the role

Automotive Refinish Technologies, LLC (formerly part of BASF until July 1) is hiring an ART Accountant in Southfield, Michigan. The role covers general accounting for the Automotive Refinish Coatings companies in the US and Canada, with a high level of autonomy and regular interaction with ART leadership, warehouse personnel, bodyshopmall.com and Corporate Functions.

Key responsibilities

• General accounting and close: run monthly general ledger activities for ART US and Canada, prepare, review and post journal entries under US GAAP, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and complete monthly, quarterly and annual closes on time.
• Audit support: prepare schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
• Financial reporting and analysis: prepare KPIs, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, intercompany reconciliations, management reporting packages and ad hoc analyses, and highlight significant variances.
• Accounts receivable and payable oversight, and inventory reconciliation support with warehouse teams.
• Compliance and controls: support Financial Reporting Compliance testing, adhere to local GAAP and regulatory requirements, and handle workers' compensation reporting.
• Tax and regulatory: coordinate governmental tax filings and remittances, and support corporate compliance initiatives and special projects.

Required profile

• University degree in accounting or a related discipline.
• 2-4 years of finance and accounting experience.
• Experience in general ledger, financial reporting and month-end close.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, able to work independently and manage several priorities.
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
