Armed Security Officer – Hospital

About the role

The Armed Security Officer provides a visible deterrent to criminal activity and ensures the safety of patients, staff, and visitors within CHRISTUS Health facilities. This full‑time, onsite role requires uniformed presence at all times and the ability to respond quickly to emergencies and incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct frequent security patrols of assigned facilities and grounds.
• Respond to all emergency codes, disaster events, and service requests promptly.
• Investigate and document incidents, preparing accurate reports before the end of each shift.
• Enforce CHRISTUS policies, state laws, and facility parking regulations.
• Assist clinical and non‑clinical staff with combative patients or visitors.
• Operate security consoles, paging systems, radio/dispatch, and CCTV/NVR monitoring equipment.
• Generate electronic daily activity reports, incident reports, and related correspondence using a PC.
• Identify and report safety hazards observed during rounds.

Required profile

• Willingness to work flexible hours and rotate between multiple facilities, including travel as needed.
• Adherence to CHRISTUS dress‑code and uniform requirements.
• Ability to meet OneCHRISTUS competencies (Leader of Self, Leader of Others, Leader of Leaders).
• Strong written communication skills for factual incident reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CCTV/NVR security monitoring systems.
• Operation of security radio/dispatch and paging consoles.
• Competence in using a PC for electronic reporting and email communication.
