Area Supervisor – Construction (Administrator IV)

About the role

The Maryland Department of General Services seeks an experienced Area Supervisor to lead a team of Building Construction Engineers. This first‑level supervisory position ensures timely, high‑quality delivery of construction projects within the assigned region and supports the Regional Manager as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Regional Manager in their absence, making time‑sensitive decisions.
• Provide backup support for Construction Managers and oversee project inspections.
• Maintain complete project documentation, including change orders, balance sheets, and correspondence.
• Coordinate and lead pre‑construction, progress, and close‑out meetings.
• Review and approve schedules, change orders, invoices, and performance evaluations.
• Ensure contract compliance, submit required reports, and manage site access and inspections.
• Lead project close‑out activities such as punch‑list completion, final payments, and warranty follow‑up.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Six years of administrative or professional experience.
• Alternatively, up to four years of experience may be substituted with 30 college credit hours per year, or a bachelor’s degree plus two years of experience.
