Area Maintenance Manager

About the role

Michelin is hiring an Area Maintenance Manager for its Ag Track facility in Junction City, Kansas, which serves the agriculture industry. The manager leads a team of 15 to 20 maintenance personnel in a defined area of the facility, ensuring equipment availability and durability while optimizing maintenance costs and energy through continuous improvement, so that Operations achieves safety, quality, cost and production goals.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize and ensure safety for personnel and equipment at all times
• Apply the maintenance strategy to equipment based on criticality
• Implement maintenance plans, including effective response to breakdowns and proactive work on machinery to improve process control (reliability)
• Continuously optimize the effectiveness of machine interventions, analyzing maintenance results and taking action over short- and medium-term horizons
• Optimize maintenance costs: operational efficiency, energy and spare parts consumption
• Master the steps and tools of Michelin Manufacturing Way (MMW) to drive reliability progress
• Ensure equipment reliability, especially by handling obsolescence cases
• Adapt resources (competency and quantity), and create and carry out training and succession plans

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of prior maintenance management experience; 2+ years of supervisory experience preferred
• Proven leadership of teams, with examples of facilitating progress
• Technical degree is a plus, but equivalent experience is considered
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment
• Proven record of developing people through coaching, mentoring and development plans
