Architect / Senior Designer (Boston, MA)

About the role

MASS, a mission‑driven design collective, is looking for an experienced Architect / Senior Designer to join its Boston office. This hybrid position involves three days on‑site per week and focuses on projects that advance health, dignity, and justice through built environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design from concept through construction documents and administration for affordable housing, health‑care, and community development projects.
• Provide technical development, mentorship, and guidance to junior designers.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary teams, manage schedules and budgets, and liaise with sub‑consultants.
• Oversee construction administration, including site visits and issue resolution.

Required profile

• 7+ years of architectural design and project experience.
• Professional degree in architecture (BArch or MArch).
• Strong portfolio demonstrating design iteration, concept development, and visual communication.
• Experience in construction administration; CA experience preferred.
• Licensure preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit (primary drawing tool).
• Competence with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
• Interest in low‑carbon design and building performance.
