Architect – Federal Facility Design (GS-13)

About the role

The Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is seeking an Architect to support the design and delivery of mission‑critical facilities across multiple locations. This GS‑13 position works within the Office of Facilities and Asset Management to translate client needs into detailed building designs.

Key responsibilities

• Create building designs and highly detailed drawings by hand and using specialist computer‑aided design applications.
• Liaise with construction professionals to assess feasibility of potential projects.
• Review Business Partner requests for construction, alteration, and restoration of facilities.
• Develop design concepts that meet client specifications, including budget and schedule estimates.
• Prepare conceptual drawings, sketches, elevations, sections, and detail plans showing dimensions, materials, and quantities.

Required profile

• U.S. citizenship.
• Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
• Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
• All pre‑employment processes conducted in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer‑aided design (CAD) software.
