Architect – Design Projects in Healthcare, Education & Research

About the role

HDR is seeking an Architect to contribute to the design and delivery of projects across healthcare, education, civic and research sectors. The role involves applying architectural standards, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting revenue‑producing projects from concept through construction.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, select and apply standard architectural techniques, adapting them as needed for project requirements.
• Perform assignments with specific objectives, investigating limited variables and following detailed instructions.
• Prepare reports, specifications and design documentation covering architectural matters.
• Recommend procedures and contribute to design coordination across project phases.
• Take responsibility for phases of individual revenue‑producing projects as required.
• Support sustainable design initiatives and LEED‑related efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience and registration as an Architect.
• Strong leadership, communication and relationship‑management abilities.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned, inclusive culture.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project).
• Graphic and 3‑D modeling tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, 3‑D Studio Max, Rhino, Grasshopper.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles and LEED guidelines.
