Aquatics Coordinator

About the role

The Aquatics Coordinator supports the Aquatic Director and Assistant Aquatics Director in planning, organizing, directing, budgeting and evaluating aquatic programs at the Dorchester YMCA. The role includes supervising staff, ensuring safety standards, and delivering excellent member service.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise lifeguard and instructor personnel, and manage class and pool schedules.
• Assist in budgeting, ordering equipment, and maintaining facility and program equipment.
• Provide member service, answer questions, and teach or guard as needed.
• Oversee safety training, drills, documentation, and maintain records for reporting.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred; at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum two years experience in aquatic program instruction, management and pool maintenance.
• Experience supervising staff and developing schedules.

Required skills

• Active YMCA Lifeguard certification (or Red Cross with conversion within six months).
• Knowledge of aquatic safety policies and ability to conduct training and drills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and interact verbally with members.
