Android Engineer

About the role

WHOOP is looking for an Android Engineer I to help build member‑facing features that leverage generative AI and drive meaningful health outcomes. You will work closely with designers, product managers, and senior engineers to deliver personalized insights that improve users' performance, recovery, and overall wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android product features using Kotlin and Java, communicating with a RESTful backend.
• Lead and contribute to feature ideation, planning, and implementation.
• Collaborate with product engineers to solve cross‑system challenges.
• Document new features and architectural decisions.
• Analyze user metrics and feedback to identify bugs, improve engagement, and reduce crash rates.
• Participate in the release process: build management, variant handling, signing, testing via Firebase, and App Store submission.
• Organize work using Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.

• Product‑mindset with empathy for the member experience.
• Eagerness to learn quickly across Android and external systems.
• Experience building, testing, debugging, and delivering native Android applications in a professional environment.
