Amphibious Craft Operator Instructor

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Amphibious Craft Operator Instructor with expertise in military amphibious craft operations and logistics. The position suits people with Deck Department experience who are proficient in navigation, watchkeeping, cargo operations, maintenance, safety procedures, mooring and towing, and leadership and training. Work is performed at a Navy Training Command at Naval Amphibious (NAB) Coronado, California.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance
• Operate and control propulsion system casualties in port and underway on Navy watercraft
• Execute pre-start and post-operation checks
• Follow Amentum's Ethics Program, workplace environment and occupational safety standards
• Maintain cleanliness of assigned work areas or craft
• Perform classroom instruction and underway laboratory training

Required profile

• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials; US citizenship is required for authorization at this location
• Experience as a Navy Boatswain's Mate, Navy Quartermaster, Navy Operations Specialist, or equivalent civilian experience
• Qualified as a Navy Second Class Swimmer or equivalent
• Availability to work alternate schedules and occasional overtime
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors and to travel occasionally

Required skills

• Classroom instruction and underway laboratory training
• Preventive and corrective maintenance of Navy craft and support equipment
• Preferred: MS Office, 6 years' experience with INLS, MPFUB, LARC, CRRC or ABLTS, 100-ton captain's license, military instructor certification, charting and plotting, First Aid/CPR/AED, and SCA knowledge
