Aisles Online Shopper

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring an Aisles Online Shopper in its online shopping department. Online customers rely on these shoppers to select the best quality groceries across all departments, from fresh produce and meat to pantry staples, so that every order is fulfilled with care and precision. The role suits someone who enjoys staying active, takes pride in doing a job right and thrives working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Greet every customer warmly and assist them with their needs throughout the store
• Select the highest quality produce, meat and other fresh products for online orders
• Select, scan and bag items from all temperature zones, keeping products at the right temperature throughout fulfillment
• Place gathered orders in storage at the proper temperature and retrieve them before the customer arrives
• Cart orders to the holding area for customer pickup
• Lift, carry and load groceries into customer vehicles
• Tender orders through the POS and process credit card payments
• Substitute products on request or when items are unavailable
• Monitor incoming online orders to ensure prompt, on-time fulfillment
• Answer phones and emails promptly and follow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards and guidelines
• Pitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come up

• Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Problem-solving skills, including making product substitutions on the fly
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Required skills

• Ability to safely use sharp knives and blades where applicable
• Ability to operate a delivery vehicle in line with DOT standards where applicable
• Exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards from cooking, baking or grilling equipment where applicable

The work is fast-moving and involves standing and walking frequently, repetitive lifting and bending, and working in a retail store with dust, noise and temperature extremes. Training is provided on safety. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
