Aisles Online Pickup Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring an Aisles Online Pickup Clerk in Ames, Iowa, within its Aisles Online department. The clerk ensures online orders are picked, organized, gathered and loaded accurately and efficiently for online shoppers. Night and weekend shifts are required, and the position reports to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Manager of Store Operations, Perishables and Health Wellness Home, and the Online Shopping Department Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers by name where possible, and escort them to products, secure out-of-reach items and help with heavy loads.
• Answer phones and emails promptly and pass along customer suggestions and requests.
• Gather orders, place them in storage at the proper temperature, retrieve them before customers arrive, and put them in a holding area for pickup.
• Lift, carry and load groceries into the customer's vehicle.
• Select, scan and bag items from all temperature zones, tender orders through the POS and charge customer credit cards.
• Follow company policies and store guidelines, report to work on time, and perform other duties and special projects as required.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to see detail at near range, with or without correction.
• Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 25 pounds frequently, with standing, walking and repetitive motion.
• Willingness to substitute products for customers when requested and unavailable.
• Good verbal and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently with limited supervision.

The work is mostly in a retail store, with exposure to dust, noise and temperature extremes, and possible hazards from moving equipment and electrical shock. Employment is contingent on a pre-employment drug screen.
