Aircraft Mechanic

About the role

The CBP Aircraft Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, overhauling, repairing, inspecting, and servicing assigned aircraft in a government maintenance environment, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and directives.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification of aircraft in accordance with 14 CFR and Department of Defense regulations.
• Conduct daily and turnaround inspections on all assigned aircraft.
• Execute corrosion control, troubleshooting, and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
• Fly on Government aircraft for relocation, in‑flight checks, and troubleshooting when ground work is insufficient.
• Travel to temporary duty sites within and outside the United States as required.

Required profile

• Valid State driver’s license and willingness to undergo random drug testing.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate.
• Competent in repair and maintenance of both fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft and associated systems.

Required skills

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
• Maintenance of fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft, including airframes, hydraulics, fuel, electrical systems, and engines.
• System troubleshooting and fault isolation.
• Interpretation of schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
