AI/Algorithm Engineer – Vascular Imaging
philips · Bedford
Job description
About the role
Join Philips to bring advanced vascular imaging algorithms from validated prototypes into medical products that clinicians rely on every day. You will be part of a talented, cross‑functional team of engineers and scientists who take algorithms from ideation and prototyping, through data annotation and model development, to verification, validation, and regulatory submission in a regulated medical device environment.
Key responsibilities
- Port, optimize, and deploy existing deep learning pipelines across hardware platforms, improving memory use, throughput, and latency.
- Convert and integrate models across frameworks and runtimes (e.g., ONNX), working with software and systems engineers to deliver robust, maintainable product code.
- Build automated tests and benchmarks demonstrating that ported algorithms reproduce reference results, and document them as verification evidence.
- Develop new algorithms for X‑ray angiography, intravascular OCT/IVUS, and other cardiovascular imaging, from ideation and prototyping with clinical partners through product‑ready implementation.
- Drive data sourcing, curation, and annotation, and evaluate model performance with rigorous statistical methods.
- Contribute to verification, validation, risk management, and regulatory submissions for AI‑enabled medical devices.
Required profile
- At least 2 years of post‑graduation professional experience in algorithms, machine learning, or software development, preferably within a regulated medical device environment.
- Strong Python and TensorFlow skills, including model training, export, and inference, with experience optimizing deep learning inference on GPU and/or CPU using profiling, memory management, and batching.
- Disciplined software engineering practices such as automated testing, version control, and CI/CD.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Artificial Intelligence, or related field (Master’s or PhD a plus).
- Solid foundation in image processing and deep learning for computer vision, and ability to leverage modern generative AI tools such as coding assistants and LLMs.
