AI Research Intern – Work with Proprietary Clinical Data

About the role

Optexity is a product‑driven research lab building clinical reasoning models on unique, proprietary data from hospitals and clinics. As an AI Research Intern you will join a small founding team, work directly with the founders, and have access to real‑world clinical datasets that no other lab possesses.

Key responsibilities

• Explore and analyze proprietary clinical reasoning trajectories to generate insights that guide model and product development.
• Design, train, and evaluate clinical reasoning and computer‑use models that improve physician and clinic workflows.
• Develop benchmarks that highlight gaps in current large language models on real clinical tasks.
• Own the end‑to‑end training and evaluation pipeline, from data preprocessing to model deployment.
• Document findings in technical reports and prepare papers for top‑tier conferences.

Required profile

• Hands‑on research experience with the ability to define problems and design experiments.
• Experience training machine‑learning models (not only fine‑tuning APIs).
• Master’s degree or higher in Machine Learning, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Comfort with open‑ended, ambiguous problems and a strong desire to publish research.
• Motivation to work in a fast‑moving startup rather than a large tech company.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python for data processing and model development.
• Solid understanding of machine‑learning concepts and model training pipelines.
