Afterschool Director at Trotter Elementary

About the role

The Afterschool Director oversees the after‑school program at Trotter Elementary, ensuring high‑quality services that support academic growth, social‑emotional development, and health and wellness. Reporting to the Regional Director and Youth Development Leadership Team, the role works 30 hours onsite each week.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate program staff to align after‑school curricula with school‑day learning and promote skill development, self‑awareness, and character building.
• Maintain compliance with EEC licensing standards and create systems for organized, inclusive programming.
• Communicate schedules, activities, and engagement opportunities to parents and community networks.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, and engaging environment and represent the YMCA as a community resource.
• Collaborate with school staff to integrate the after‑school program as an extension of the school day.
• Lead summer programming at a licensed YMCA location when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and a passion for positive youth development.
• 1‑2 years of experience training, leading, and coaching part‑time staff.
• Experience working in diverse communities with an equity mindset.
• Preferred bilingual ability in English and Haitian Kreyol.

Required skills

• Knowledge of school‑day curricula and ability to align after‑school activities.
• Understanding of EEC licensing requirements and compliance.
• Strong communication skills for parent and community outreach.
• Ability to manage safety, attendance, and documentation accurately.
