Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Ophthalmology & Glaucoma

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specialized in ophthalmology and glaucoma. The APRN will deliver comprehensive medical care, perform independent examinations, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct complete physical examinations and comprehensive health histories for patients of all ages.
• Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic and therapeutic tests specific to ophthalmic and glaucoma care.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments in accordance with state regulations.
• Implement interventions to maintain or restore physiologic stability and monitor their effectiveness.
• Facilitate patient transitions across care settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, making appropriate referrals and providing education to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with university, facility, state, and federal policies and safeguard institutional assets.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in an eye‑care setting.
• Valid State of Florida APRN license.
• Current CPR and ACLS certifications.
• Preferred certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center for Nurse Practitioners.
• Demonstrated learning agility, teamwork, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
