Senior Statistician – Vaccine Clinical Trials

About the role

PATH’s Center for Vaccine Innovation and Access is looking for a Senior Statistician to lead statistical activities for Phase 1‑3 vaccine clinical trials, initially focusing on oral polio vaccine studies. The role involves hands‑on statistical leadership and oversight of external partners throughout trial design, analysis, and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the study statistician for Phase 1‑3 oral polio vaccine trials, overseeing all statistical activities.
• Design statistical aspects of trials, including sample‑size calculations, randomization schedules, and interim/futility analyses.
• Develop and review statistical analysis plans, analyze trial data, and contribute to study reports and manuscripts.
• Provide statistical oversight of CRO partners, reviewing analysis specifications, outputs, and timelines.
• Support regulatory and pre‑qualification submissions by preparing integrated safety and efficacy tables.

Required profile

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience supporting clinical research, preferably vaccine trials.
• Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodology and ability to communicate statistical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States and willingness to travel up to 15%.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical programming with SAS.
• Proficiency in statistical programming with R.
• Experience with sample‑size and power calculations, randomization, and interim analysis design.
