Advanced Practice Registered Nurse – Neurological Surgery (Full‑Time)

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join the Neurological Surgery team. This full‑time position provides autonomous patient care, collaborates closely with surgeons, residents, and nursing staff, and supports both operating‑room and ambulatory‑surgery environments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health histories for neurosurgical patients.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic and therapeutic tests appropriate to patient age and condition.
• Prescribe pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic treatments, including medication management.
• Implement interventions to maintain physiologic stability and monitor their effectiveness.
• Facilitate patient transitions across care settings, including admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, making referrals and providing education to patients, families, and staff.
• Ensure compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations and adhere to university policies.

Required profile

• Current Florida Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) license or PA‑C certification.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Master of Science in Nursing or a related field.
• DEA license and BLS certification.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize under pressure.
• Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently or within a team.
