Advanced Practice Provider, Urology Fellowship – Surgical Track

About the role

The Garry Weber APP Urology Fellowship Program at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a 12-month structured postgraduate program for Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners, starting in March 2027. It offers broad exposure to urology, including inpatient management, outpatient clinic work, first-assist training in the operating room and urologic procedural training, with close mentoring by experienced urologists.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients in inpatient and outpatient urology settings
• Take part in preoperative and postoperative patient care
• Develop urologic procedural skills and gain first-assist experience in the operating room
• Participate in robotic urologic surgical cases
• Work alongside urology physicians, APPs and multidisciplinary care teams
• Attend weekly pre-op conferences, Grand Rounds, monthly journal clubs and M&M conferences, plus the annual Paul C. Peters Urology Symposium

Required profile

• Physician Assistants: graduate of an ARC-PA-accredited program, NCCPA certification, Texas PA license eligibility or current license
• Nurse Practitioners: accredited advanced practice education program, Texas NP and RN licensure, acute care certification and RNFA certification
• Current ACLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Personal statement, CV and two letters of recommendation (one from program director if recent graduate, one from a supervising physician if currently employed)
