Advanced Practice Provider – Neuro ICU (NP/PA)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Intensive Care Unit seeks an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with neurocritical care experience to join a 24‑bed academic program. The APP will work alongside neurointensivists, fellows, residents and a multidisciplinary team to manage patients with acute neurological emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Admit, treat and discharge neuro‑ICU patients, performing ICU procedures and rapid‑response interventions.
• Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds, collaborate with neurosurgery, neurology, anesthesia, respiratory therapy and pharmacy.
• Order and interpret laboratory, radiology and cardiographic studies, and prescribe medications within licensure.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatments and medication side effects.

Required profile

• Current NP or PA licensure in the applicable state with national certification.
• Graduate of an accredited APRN or PA program; MSN required within 3 years of hire for NP.
• Basic Life Support certification required; ACLS, PALS, NRP or ATLS may be required based on assignment.
• Ability to work rotating day, evening, night, weekend and holiday shifts.

Required skills

• Neurocritical care or critical care experience.
• Proficiency in ICU procedures and multimodal monitoring.
• Competence in patient assessment, lab and imaging ordering, and medication management.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS (or equivalent advanced life‑support).
