Advanced Practice Provider – Mechanical Circulatory Support (LVAD)

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Health System seeks an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to join the Mechanical Circulatory Support Service caring for patients with left ventricular assist devices (LVAD). The role involves inpatient rounding, outpatient clinic visits, and occasional travel to local facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical histories, physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
• Perform and interpret laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic, and other routine diagnostic procedures as credentialed.
• Prescribe and monitor medications within scope of licensure and clinic policy.
• Educate patients on disease, treatment plans, medication side effects, and device management.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team rounds, discharge planning, and quality monitoring.

Required profile

• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner and RN in the applicable state(s).
• MSN degree required upon hire or within three years.
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems.
• Ability to perform advanced cardiovascular assessments and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of LVAD patient management and mechanical circulatory support therapies.
