Advanced Practice Provider Fellow – Clinical Fellowship

About the role

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellow program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine provides specialized, hands‑on training in the management of patients across a range of acute and chronic conditions. Fellows work closely with physicians and preceptors in both inpatient and outpatient settings to develop advanced clinical competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history, physical exam, and review of diagnostic tests.
• Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with supervising physicians.
• Document clinical findings, orders, and patient education in the electronic health record.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, discharge planning, and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collect research data and contribute to scholarly activities as assigned.

Required profile

• Current or recent graduate of an accredited advanced practice nursing or physician assistant program.
• Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to work under supervision.
• Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork and patient‑centered care.

Required skills

• Proficiency in patient assessment and physical examination.
• Ability to interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and other diagnostic data.
• Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation.
