Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA) - Cardiovascular Critical Care

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA) to work closely with cardiovascular critical care patients, physicians and nurses. The provider supports the development of the Open-Heart Surgical program and works with Cardiothoracic Surgeons to deliver evidence-based care to post-surgical cardiac patients. The position is salaried, with flexible hours depending on patient and nursing team needs and occasional call.

Key responsibilities

• Manage comprehensive, individualized care during the inpatient phase, evaluating post-surgical cardiac patients to improve outcomes
• Develop criteria and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice in line with STS guidelines
• Consult with the nursing and healthcare team, patients and families
• Teach nursing staff, the healthcare team, patients and families using teaching theories and strategies in the CVICU and PCU
• Collaborate with the Clinical Manager and Executive Director of the Cardiovascular service line, act as a change agent, and assist the STS data abstractor with quality measures
• Take part in multi-disciplinary rounds and communicate with patients, families and physicians
• Reconcile patient discharge medications and make mandatory post-discharge phone calls to monitor care
• Participate in research activities suited to education and experience

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and an accredited advanced practice nursing program (ARNP or CNS)
• Current Florida ARNP license
• At least 2 years of cardiovascular critical-care hospital experience
• Expertise in cardiovascular nursing and evidence-based interventions, with critical thinking, diagnostic reasoning and teamwork
• Able to mentor nurses and lead as a team leader; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a stressful environment
• Annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance and maintenance of professional licensure
