Admissions Officer – Temporary

About the role

The Admissions Officer – Temporary will join Carleton College’s Admissions team to help recruit and select a diverse, high‑achieving student body. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Admissions and the Director of International Recruitment, this twelve‑month position supports the full admissions cycle for both first‑year and transfer applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Read and evaluate first‑year and transfer applications, recommending candidates for admission.
• Lead on‑campus information sessions that showcase the liberal‑arts experience.
• Conduct individual interviews on‑ and off‑campus to assess applicant fit and interest.
• Advise prospective students and families on admission policies and financial‑aid options.
• Manage a recruitment territory, planning travel and outreach activities in collaboration with the Director.
• Represent Carleton at regional conferences, meetings, and external agencies to maintain visibility.
• Promote an inclusive environment that welcomes prospective students and their families.
• Support special projects, divisional programming, and events as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Demonstrated exposure to admissions or related recruitment work.
• Understanding of the mission of a selective, residential liberal‑arts college.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to organization, detail‑orientation, and meeting deadlines.

• Starting salary range of $59,800 – $61,800 per year.
