Adjunct Faculty, Public Relations (Sports Communication)

About the role

The Lawrence Herbert School of Communication at Hofstra University is seeking an adjunct faculty member for the Department of Journalism, Media Studies, and Public Relations to teach courses in sports communication, sports media and strategic communication, and other related courses. The preferred candidate teaches sports promotion within the Public Relations and Strategic Communication majors and the Sports Media major.

Key responsibilities

• Teach sports communication courses, especially sports promotion for the Public Relations and Strategic Communication majors and the Sports Media major.
• Cover publicity and promotion and communication processes from multiple perspectives, including sports public relations, community engagement, event planning, content creation, consumer-centric promotion, social media, earned, owned and paid media strategies, and other sports-related platforms.
• Teach introductory courses across multiple platforms, covering practical and ethical considerations in gathering, analyzing and communicating strategic communication goals.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional experience in the sports communication field.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Available to begin teaching in the spring 2027 semester.

Required skills

• Strong background in publicity and promotion and communication processes.
• Ability to teach introductory courses on strategic communication goals.
