Adjunct Faculty – Political Science, Psychology, Research Methods & Sociology

About the role

Johnson & Wales University seeks qualified adjunct faculty to teach courses in Political Science, Psychology, Research Methods, and Sociology. The position involves delivering engaging instruction both on‑campus and online, supporting student learning and mastery of course objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver course content using diverse teaching methods and assessments.
• Develop lesson plans, course materials, and a university‑approved syllabus for each class.
• Grade student work, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate attendance and performance records.
• Manage the course site in the learning management system, updating materials and the grade center regularly.
• Communicate early with students at risk of failure and coordinate with department chairs and academic counselors.
• Refer students to university support services such as career, counseling, and accessibility resources.
• Populate and maintain faculty information in the university’s credential system.
• Participate in faculty orientation, meetings, and other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, or a related discipline (or 18 graduate credits in the field plus a master’s degree).
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses effectively.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with a Learning Management System (LMS) for course delivery and assessment.
• Strong organizational skills for managing course materials and student records.
