Adjunct Faculty – Biology (Microbiology for Nursing)

About the role

Saint Louis University’s Department of Biology seeks an Adjunct Faculty member to teach BIOL1600 Microbiology for Nursing during the Fall 2026 semester. The position involves delivering two weekly lectures and guiding nursing students in understanding pathogenic microorganisms.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a three‑credit course covering structure, pathogenicity, epidemiology, diagnosis, and laboratory identification of human pathogens.
• Explain modes of action of selected antibiotics and chemotherapeutic agents.
• Facilitate student learning on infection recognition, specimen collection, and interpretation of laboratory reports.
• Maintain course schedule of Monday and Wednesday, 3:10 pm – 4:25 pm.
• Participate in departmental meetings and adhere to university policies, including union membership.

Required profile

• MS or PhD in Biological Science completed by the start of employment.
• Ability to teach undergraduate nursing students effectively.
